Happy Travels from Inn at the Presidio!

Hello! We are your online guide to all things San Francisco, The Presidio, local parks & museums, Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and more. Our inn is an adorable historic bachelor's quarters from 1904, restored into a contemporary but classic 22 room Inn. We open Spring of 2012, and hope to share with you some of the most exciting things from The NPS, the Presidio Trust, it's partners, and the San Francisco Bay at large. You don't have to stay at our inn to ask questions about the area, or enjoy our posts... just let us know if we can help!. San Francisco’s Presidio was home to a military base for over 100 years. The military base was disbanded in the 1980s, but the Presidio area which is now mostly used for recreational activities and by businesses, is still a walking museum of what was once a coastal defence outpost with mainly artillery units. This page has a collection of all the photos in the Presidio that were once meant to protect San Francisco from invasion in a number of wars.
