In Fodor’s San Francisco “Splurge vs Save” edition…. Our Inn makes the “Save” section. Fantastic to be the nicest hotel in SF, and with the best rates because we are on a national park and want as much access to all, as possible. Win win for guests!

The Ribbon Cutting at our Grand Opening
A special moment…. First Nancy Bechtle speaks, then Bruce Hraba from Waterford Hotels & Inns, and then Craig Middleton of the Presidio Trust. Then the ever-so-festive ribbon cutting. The party itself ended up being a wonderful treat… there’s another video on our channel that you can check out to see the event, listen to the band, and enjoy a little “new history”.

This guy is ridiculous. What a complement to our opening….. enjoy a little bit of his organ, along with Brandon Etzler on drums, Steve Burke on guitar
Want to read a little more about Wil Blades? You can always head to his site, http://www.wilblades.com, or get your fill right here. He’s sort of a big deal…… in fact, he has a new album coming out with Billy Martin of Medeski, Martin, and Wood. Look for it!
My story isn’t anything out of the ordinary but I suppose is part of the history of the base. I lived in the base housing on Pershing Drive as a child in 1959. My father was an officer stationed at Fort Mason at the time. I remember taking the city bus to school at Argonne Elementary in the city. There were plenty of other children in my section of housing. We would roller skate in the empty carports and build forts in the nearby woods under the canopy of cool pines. Our bedrooms overlooked the ocean and I still can remember the sound of the foghorns during most mornings before the fog would lift. Later when we moved to Daly City, my mother would bring my brother and I onto the base to do her grocery shopping at the commissary. At the time, children were not allowed in the store, so we would sit in the car for what seemed like hours, but probably less than an hour, waiting for her to do her shopping. At the time, it was just accepted that we lived on an Army base as I did most of my life, but now that I look back, it was quite an opportunity to have lived on such a beautiful, historic piece of property. I look forward to my stay at the Inn At the Presidio this fall.
