A great account of an incredible moment in American History. The Presidio Trust just issued a statement on building 640, http://www.presidio.gov/trust/projects/640.htm, as they consider it one of the most important buildings on the Presidio, with some of the most vital history in the entire story of the Presidio, San Francisco, and our country’s legacy. This was a complex moment - fascinating and important to study and remember. We hope you enjoy learning a little!
Is your "lounge" going to include any bar service elements? And, if yes, open to general public or only to Inn guests?
The lounge area, by our reception desk, will be for “lounging” rather than a proper bar area. Guests will have a continental breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese reception in the dining room, as part of the rate. That will be an amenity to the guest’s stay, and not a public event.
However, this Inn is a happily restored building in a National Park - and will be accessible to anyone, as you might expect. It’s a thrilling aspect to our opening, in that this building has *never* been open to the public - since it was built in 1904. This is the first time in the history that much of the Presidio’s grandeur and special places have even been accessible to the public, and the Trust has done a phenomenal job balancing reuse and accessibility. Of course, we may be a little biased. =^]
We will certainly have an opening party for the neighborhood and local fans, so you will have a chance to check it out at that time. Keep tuned to this account (or our Facebook, and Twitter) for more information!
What is room availability in the next say three months ? and can one purchase Gift Certificates to give friends for a night or two's lodging ?
We have a soft opening period in March, and will be open and accepting reservations as of 1st of April (no joke!). You can book online right now on our temporary website: http://www.innatthepresidio.com, which is also the URL of our main website when it goes live. We will be able to sell gift certificates, although we haven’t the proper gift certificate system in place yet. If it’s urgent however, we can certainly create something for you. Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for being interested! It means a lot. Be well.
